Turnovers by Bears Defense Makes the Difference in Comeback Defeat of Ogdensburg

On Saturday October 10, the Bears took on Ogdensburg at home. The Bears had a positive outlook going into this game. After a week of recovering and training and working to be stronger they were ready for Saturday’s game. The Bears ended up outworking the Blue devils and came out on top with a 28-22 win.

The Bears got on the scoreboard early into the game with a touchdown by TJ O’Brien, shortly after the Blue Devils got their first of the game. This didn’t stop the Bears defense from continuing to work and push the Blue Devils back. With some calls that didn’t work in the Bears favor they still rallied. The work paid off which led to phenomenal plays and a huge comeback in the fourth quarter for the Bears.

An interception tipped off by Troy Zuhlsdorf gave Parker Ames the chance to catch the ball and then run a 29 yard touchdown, giving the Bears the lead in the game they had been pushing for. Not only did this give the Bears a solid lead but it also was the game winning touchdown.

This was a strong turnaround for the Bears boosting the energy and the drive for them. It shows that no matter the outcome of any game the Bears will continue to work for it until they get the result they want. It also shows how motivated the Bears are on the field. They had remained in a deficit of 22-6 throughout the game up until the fourth, but this didn’t stop them from staying motivated the entire game. It showed the younger players that working until the very end of the game will have good outcomes.

The Bears could have given up or lost their drive but instead they continued to work and find ways to get the ball to the other end, and when they did it gave them the win they have been looking for all season. The Bears are set to play next Saturday, October 17, at St. Lawrence Central, kickoff is at 1:30.
