On September 15th, Canton hosted their first home event of the cross country season. This year, instead of hosting three small meets across the section every Tuesday, there will only be two hosts at once, allowing for exciting races and increased competition. In the varsity girls race, JessieJean Coffin was Canton’s top finisher, placing eighth with a time of 24:46. Lena Frank finished 10th, running the course in 25:34. Ashlan Foster placed 11th with a time of 25:51. Aurora Casserly ran the course in 26:15, placing 12th. Addison Ragan placed 15th with a time of 26:50.

On the boys side, Cedric Harper took first with a time of 18:35. Zachary Lyndaker placed third, running the course in 18:53. Carson White had a time of 20:13, placing ninth. Hunter Gilson placed 12th with a time of 20:35. Brendan Todd finished 13th with a time of 20:59.

In the boys modified race of 1.5 miles, Oliver Williams finished sixth with a time of 11:00. Alden Barr placed 21st with a time of 18:35.

The next meet, on September 22nd, will include the entire section at Bruston-Moira, acting as a practice for Sectionals later in the season. On Saturday the 26th, Canton cross country will travel to Utica for the annual E.J. Herrmann invitational.
