Canton 20 Salmon River 0 (Senior Game)
The Golden Bears hosted the Salmon River Shamrocks on Wednesday afternoon in their final game of the regular season. More importantly it was Cantons “Senior Game” and it was time to celebrate Tessa Alguire, Jenna Larrabee, Shaylee Olmstead, Aida Baker, Hope Dollman and Mia Wilson in their final regular season game at Ike Noble Fields.
After the ceremony it didn’t take Canton long to put some runs on the board as they scored five runs in the first inning on their way to a 20-0 win. Elle White (3-4, 2 Doubles, 5 RBI), Jenna Larrabee ( 2-3, 2 RBI) and Tessa Alguire (1-2, HR, 4 RBI) led the way for the Bears on the offensive side. Alguire’s homerun over the left field fence in the 2nd inning was her sixth of the season.
White started the game in the circle and picked up the win, striking out two and only allowed an infield single. Alguire pitched the final two inning, striking out four and also only allowed one hit.
“This was a great day for our six seniors. They have done so much for the Canton Softball program and Coach Brabaw and I. Yes, they have won a lot of games as a group but more importantly they have been great role models for the younger players in the program. Most of them are three sport athletes for Canton so you know they love to compete and represent their school with pride and class. It has been a true honor for us to coach them but it has been even more fun to watch them play. We would both like to thank their families for all the support over the years. Next Game:
The Bears will host the winner of the Potsdam and Ogdensburg game on Thursday May 28th at Ike Noble Filed. Game time will be announced.
