Tessa Alguire(9) Lead Off Game With A Homerun Off the Scoreboard

The Bears hosted the Ogdensburg Blue Devils on Tuesday afternoon at Ike Noble Fields and it didn’t take long for Canton to get on the scoreboard.  Senior Tessa Alguire(2-3, HR, 1 RBI) led off the bottom of the first inning with a shot off the top of the scoreboard.  The homerun was Alguire’s fourth of the year and helped the Bears to an 18-1 win.  Elise Harris also had two hits and a double in the game for the Bears.  Elle White, Shaylee Olmstead (2 RBI), Harper Elvy, Hope Dollman and Aida Baker all had one hit apiece in the winning cause.

Harper Elvy (16) Makes A Play On The Run

Alguire followed Elle Whites lead from yesterday with a strong pitching performance of her own on Tuesday.  She pitched a complete game shutout from the circle, striking out seven and only allowing one hit.

“I like the way way played today as a team.  Our baserunning and defense was much better today and those are two things along with our pitching that are going to keep us in games.  We moved Tessa up to the lead off spot for todays game and it paid off quickly.  She hit the second pitch she saw high off the scoreboard.  That definitely got everyone’s  attention.” From Coach Mike Wentworth

The Golden Bears will travel to Malone to play the Franklin Academy Huskies on Wednesday.  First pitch is scheduled for 5:00pm.
