Bears Survive Tough Inning To Outlast Cats

Canton 15  Gouverneur 7

The Golden Bears hosted the Gouverneur Wildcats at Ike Noble Field on Monday afternoon.  Canton started the game on a tear by out scoring the Cats 15-1 after five innings.  However, the sixth inning brought rain clouds and sloppy play .  The Wildcats cut the deficit scoring six runs on two hits, three walk and four errors.  Canton seemed to pull it together in the seventh and closed the door, winning the game 15-7.

Elle White (11)

Tessa Alguire continued to swing the hot bat going 3-4 with a double and a triple(3 RBI).  Elle White(2 doubles, 2 RBI), Jenna Larrabee, Emma Bradish Hayes and Elise Harris(double) also had big days at the plate, collecting two hits apiece.

White picked up the win in the circle, striking out eight and only allowing two hits in 6 innings of work.

“For the second game in a row we really swung the bats well today. I just love the aggressiveness at the plate.  We had a gut check in the sixth inning though by letting them get back in the game by giving up six unearned runs.  We just need to cut down on the mental, physical and baserunning errors.  Those things will hurt us in close games.  Tomorrow is a new day, we need to remember the good things and learn from the bad things in games like that.” From Coach Wentworth
