Canton traveled to Brasher to face Central League softball power, the St. Lawrence Central Larries. Canton helped SLC break in their brand new turf Softball field on Monday afternoon. “Their new turf field is beautiful! It’s a turf infield and natural grass in the outfield. The maintenance has to be so easy and you won’t see many games get rained out in Brasher anymore. That is the future of Baseball and Softball in the North Country. I hope at some point in my lifetime we can see something like that in Canton.” Canton Softball Coach Mike Wentworth
Aida Baker (7)
The Bears jumped out in the first inning by scoring three runs and then tacked on two more in the fourth on their way to a 5-1 victory. Elle White was a machine at the plate by recording three hits in the game. Layla Clifford (double) and Jenna Larrabee had the other two Canton Hits.
Tessa Alguire started in the circle for the Bears, throwing four innings, striking out five and only allowing one unearned run. White closed the game out by throwing three scoreless innings and striking out three.

“That was our best overall defensive game. SLC put the ball in play so we had to flash a little more leather today than usual. The Larries pitchers threw well. I think we only had five team hits today but we did hit the ball hard and made some loud outs. That is the first one we really had to grind out and I was proud of how we handled it. That game will make us better down the stretch.” Coach Wentworth
