Modified Boys Soccer fall to the Huskies 2-0

The Modified Boys hit the road on Tuesday to take on the Malone Huskies. A hard fought battle in the first half had the Bears level at 0-0 at halftime. Defenders Darren Potter, Jack Knowlton and Ayden Mousaw were instrumental on defense, limiting scoring opportunities and shutting down Malone’s top attackers. On offense, 7th grade winger Omar Veknach’s ball control, poise and vision were key for Canton creating many quality chances.

In the second half it was the Malone Huskies who struck first. A cross from outside the box bounced off a Canton defender and trickled into the net. However, the Bears showed their resiliency, not backing down from the challenge and stepping up their effort. Later in the 3rd quarter, the Huskies found the back of the net again, doubling the margin for victory. The 4th quarter saw back and forth chances for both the Bears and Huskies, however neither were able to convert.

7th grade Goaltender Laken Hitchman made his first career start in goal for the Bears, recording 9 saves. Ayden Mousaw and Cooper Timm were named co-players of the game, for their persistent and tenacious effort for all 4 quarters.
