The Golden Bears earned their third straight victory in dramatic fashion, battling through five sets to take down Madrid-Waddington in a tough matchup. After dropping the first set 25-13, the Bears regrouped and fought back to win the second 25-23. They stumbled in the third 25-18 but dominated the fourth 25-14 before closing out the night with a decisive 15-8 win in the fifth set.
Sophomore captain Amal Moumen had a strong all-around performance, finishing with 6 kills, 8 digs, and 10 service points that included 5 aces. Setter Zoey Zebedee spread the offense with 13 assists while also adding 8 digs on defense. Freshman Delia Gaurin made her presence felt with 10 kills, 6 digs, and 8 service points.
Sophomore captain Elle White contributed 10 kills, 2 blocks, 10 digs, and 18 service points that featured 5 aces. Junior Elise Harris stepped up in the later sets, tallying 7 kills along with 11 service points and 7 aces. Junior captain Berkley Brown rounded out the attack with 5 kills and 7 assists.
The Bears will look to keep their winning streak alive at home on Tuesday, September 16 at 6:00 p.m. when they face their Route 11 rival, the Potsdam Sandstoners.
