Golden Bears Open Season with Sweep of Clifton-Fine Eagles

The Canton Golden Bears hit the road for their season opener and came away with a strong 3-0 sweep over the Clifton-Fine Eagles.

Despite being a young squad with no seniors on the roster, the Bears showed composure and teamwork, led by returning sophomore captains Elle White and Amal Moumen, along with first-year junior captain Berkley Brown.

White and Delia Gaurin led the charge at the net and on defense, pacing the team in both kills and digs. Sophomore setter Zoey Zebedee kept the offense rolling, recording 13 assists while adding 13 serves and 5 aces. Moumen and White anchored the back row with a dozen receives each, also contributing 8 serves apiece. Junior Claire Polniak gave the team a boost from the serving line, finishing with 12 serves.

The Golden Bears look to carry their momentum into their home opener on Monday, when they host the Gouverneur Wildcats and aim for their second victory of the season.
