In Canton on the Wayne Willette Field on Friday, Canton 10, Massena 0.
On a cold drizzly Friday afternoon the Canton Golden Bears Softball team had to move their home game up to “Wayne Willette” Field because of poor field conditions on the main field. “It was kind of cool to play on that field again. Coach Willette won a lot of games on this field over the years and it was an honor to stand in the same coaching box that he did for over thirty years,” remarked Coach Mike Wentworth.
Coach Willette always loved the shutout in whatever he coached so it was fitting that the Bears out scored the Raiders by the score of 12-0. Tessa Aguire struck out 13 and only allowed one hit picking up the win.
Alguire, Jenna Larabee, Elle White, Shaylee Olmstead and Elise Harris all picked up two hits in the game. Larrabee and Olmstead both had RBI triples.
“It was nice to get that game in today. The weather wasn’t perfect Softball weather but the girls played well and made the best of it. Tessa and Jenna had a good rhythm going today, they really had things clicking.,” stated Wentworth.
The Bears will make the trip to Ogdensburg on Monday to face the undefeated Blue Devils. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30
