On January 17th, the Canton varsity track team competed in another successful meet at SLU’s Newell FIeld House. The athletes are pleased with the results as the indoor season nears the end.

In a strong start to the meet, the girls 4×800 team took first place. Salma Moumen, Lena Frank, Aurora Casserly, and Elena Abplanalp finished the relay in 10:42.
In the boys 4×800 relay, the Canton team, consisting of Aiden Rodriguez-Doyle, Rylan Lee-Powell, Daniel Armendariz-Huang, and Noah Gendebein, also placed first with a time of 9:00.
Top runners in the girls 60 meters included Shaylee Olmstead, Aida Baker, and Elizabeth Metcalf.
Hayden Towle, Tegan Cortwright, and Placid Shipman were top runners in the boys 60 meters.
In the girls 60 meter hurdles, Isabella Perratta placed sixth with a time of 11.91. Alexa Fay placed ninth with a time of 12.06.
Salma Moumen placed second in the girls 1500 with a time of 5:33. Lena Frank placed seventh, running a 5:56. Lorelei Harper placed tenth with a time of 6:28.
The girls 4×200 team, consisting of Shaylee Olmstead, Aida Baker, Isabella Perrata, and Elizabeth Metcalf, placed sixth with a time of 2:06.
The boys 4×200 relay placed fifth. Crosby Terrell, Finn O’Brien, Malachi Conant, and Placid Shipman finished the race with a total time of 1:53.
In the boys 1600 meter run, Noah Gendebein placed second with a time of 4:51.
In the girls 3000 meter run, Violet Foster placed fifth with a time of 13:01. Addison Ragan placed seventh, running a 13:51.
In the girls 1000 meters, Salma Moumen placed fifth with a time of 3:34. Hannah Ames placed tenth with a time of 3:47.
Rylan Lee-Powell took first in the boys 1000 with a time of 2:51. Aiden Rodriguez-Doyle ran the race in 2:56, placed third.
In the boys 3200, Kaden Worthley placed first with a time of 10:23.

The girls 4×400 team placed fourth with a time of 4:49. The relay team consisted of Aurora Casserly, Elena Abplanalp, Zara Cordwell, and Lena Frank.
The Canton boys 4×400 team placed third in a tight finish. Duncan Harper, Rylan Lee-Powell, Aiden Rodriguez-Doyle, and Noah Gendebein completed the relay in 3:51.
In boys triple jump, Hayden Towle placed fifth, jumping 34 ft. 6.25 in.
In girls triple jump, Isabella Perratta placed eighth with a jump of 27 ft. 2 in.
In the boys shot put, William Moots placed eighth with a throw of 33 ft. Adam Sabatini placed 12th, throwing 30 ft. 9 in.
In girls high jump, Zara Cordwell placed second with a height of 4 ft. 10 in.
William Moots placed fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 29 ft. 10.50 in.
Both the boys and girls teams placed fifth overall. On January 25th, there will be an invitational meet at the Newell Field House.
