The Canton girls varsity soccer team defeated Gouverneur on Saturday in a highly competitive matchup for Section X glory.
The Bears emerged victorious, thanks to a single goal in the game as Olivia Francey volleyed a Kailin Backus corner kick.
“We had a great deal of sustained pressure and stuck to our game plan,” Coach Greg Kiah said of the Golden Bears’ efforts. “We had a two-touch keep away mentality for the entire 80 minutes. Our defense continued to be resilient and our depth was a major factor.”
