Bears XC Posts Perfect Scores in Gouverneur

On Tuesday, Oct. 15, the Bears competed on the most challenging course in Section X: Gouverneur. The weather was cold and rainy, and the extreme hills were muddy with slick grass.

Despite this, the Bears were able to repeat their exceptional team performance from this course last year. On the site of their original perfect score, the boys team did the same thing this year with five seniors. Rylan Lee-Powell (18:15), Daniel Armendariz-Huang (18:16), Lucas Watts (18:22), Aiden Rodriguez-Doyle (19:20), and Kaden Worthley (20:30) placed first through fifth. Canton beat Gouverneur 15-50, and OFA had an incomplete team.

Brianna Scott placed first on her home course in 23:29, followed by seven of the Bears. Aurora Casserly placed second (24:39), Lena Frank placed third (25:52), CJ McKinley placed fourth (26:37), Violet Foster placed fifth (26:46), and Lorelei Harper placed sixth (27:42). The girls also claimed their first perfect 15 points because both Gouverneur and OFA had incomplete teams.

The Bears gear up for their senior night at home next week and championship season starting afterward.
