On Oct. 15, the Canton modified cross country team competed in one of their toughest races of the season at the Gouverneur Country Club. All athletes raced well despite the extreme wind, rain, and sleet.

Cedric Harper placed first with a time of 10:32. Coming second was Elijah Williams with a time of 11:25. Callum Parsons ran the race in 11:41, placing fourth. John Tartakoff placed fifth with a time of 13:58. Will Tartakoff placed sixth with a time of 15:02. In seventh was Michael Oshier with a time of 15:37.
Later in the week, on Oct. 19, the Canton modified team attended the Beaver River Invitational, placing third overall against a competitive section. Competing teams included Beaver River School, Carthage, Norwood-Norfolk, Thousand Islands, Watertown, Massena, General Brown, Indian River, and Rome Free Academy. Cedric Harper was a top ten qualifier, placing third out of 90 with a time of 11:39. Elijah Williams placed 11th with a time of 12:26. Callum Parson placed 36th with a time of 14:03. John Tartakoff was right behind with a time of 14:06, placing 38th. Michael Oshier ran the race in 15:47 and placed 64th. Will Tartakoff placed 69th with a time of 16:28.

The athletes look forward to their next meet on Tuesday, Oct. 22, which will be held at home.
