
On Tuesday, Oct. 1, the Bears Cross Country teams raced against Massena, Tupper Lake, and Salmon River on the hilly Nicandri Nature Center course. Canton claimed both individual wins, as well as both team wins in a strong showing from both the boys and girls teams. In the boys race seniors Lucas Watts and Daniel Armendariz-Huang finished first and second in 17:45.75 and 17:50.84. Andrew David from Massena took third in 17:59.87. Canton took the next two spots with Rylan Lee-Powell in fourth in 18:11.40 and Aiden Rodriguez-Doyle in fifth in 18:17.18. Adam Sabatini took seventh for the Bears in 19:08.08. Canton beat Massena 19-42 in the final scores.
In the girls race, Canton sophomore Lena Frank won by over two-and-a-half minutes, in a time of 23:18.81. Canton swept the top four, with senior Violet Foster finishing second in 25:40.06, senior Lorelei Harper finishing third in 25:47.59, and senior CJ McKinley finishing fourth in 25:49.56. Freshman Addison Ragan placed seventh in 28:11.18. Canton beat Massena 17-41 in the final scores.
After winning this meet easily, the Bears are looking forward to a league meet in Potsdam on Tuesday and a big weekend at the Burnt Hills Invitational in Saratoga Springs.
