After enduring three consecutive losses, the Canton volleyball team made a powerful comeback with a decisive victory against Brushton-Moira on Monday night. The win, which took place in Brushton, provided a much-needed boost to the team’s morale.

In the first set, the Bears showcased their determination to bounce back, taking control early with strong serves and impressive defense. The front row, led by standout players Elle White and Zoey Zebedee, dominated at the net, combining for multiple assists and kills that left their opponents scrambling and ended in a 25-10 victory.

Canton continued their dominance in the second set with Calie Klassen delivering a string of 17 serves, allowing the team to continue the momentum and seal the second set 25-5.
In the third and final set, Canton showed no signs of letting up. Strong defense from the back row led by Cecily Shipman, and 12 serves from Elle White, kept the opposing team’s attacks at bay. After a few back-and-forth rallies, the team surged ahead, ultimately clinching the set 25-4.

Coach Carla Wentworth was proud of her team’s performance: ‘Our offense had good rhythm with Elle (White) and Zoey (Zebedee) moving the ball around to different attack areas. We were very strong at the serving line with Calie (Klassen) serving for 17 straight points and Elle (White) serving for 12 straight. Multiple players got a chance to play and work together. It was a good bounce-back win after some tough losses earlier last week.’

This 3-0 sweep marks a much-needed turnaround for the Bears, who now look ahead to building on this momentum in their next match, where they will be on the road playing Class C Rival, Tupper Lake.
