The Golden Bears Varsity Volleyball team kicked off their season last night at home in the new Canton Athletic Center, where they faced off against the Clifton-Fine Eagles. The Bears fell short of a victory to the strong, co-ed defense of the Eagles with a match score of 3-1.
The young Bears team was led by 2 Freshmen, Elle White with 14 kills and 8 digs and Amal Moumen tallying 14 assists. Senior Calie Klassen had 6 serves while Cecily Shipman and Rose Towne followed with 4 each. ‘I am proud of the girls. As they spend more time practicing and playing together, I think we will get better and better and have a very successful season,’ Coach Carla Wentworth said.
The Bears will look to earn their first win Monday, September 9th when they take on the Wildcats. Game time is set for 6:30 in Gouverneur.
