Modified Golden Bears softball traveled to OFA on Thursday, May 9 and defeated the Blue Devils by a score of 22- 13.
The Golden Bears started the game a little slow with OFA jumping out to an early lead. The Bears were able to take the lead in the 3rd inning and keep it for the remainder of the game. Offensively the Bears were led by Paige Godwin who went 3-3 at the plate with a double, two singles, and three runs scored. Lilly Todd went 3-4 with three singles and two runs scored. Taylor Stone and Harper Elvy each added two singles. Elvy also added three runs scored. Arieana St. Andrews (1 run scored), Bella Doughty (3 runs scored) , Zoey Zebedee (1 run scored), and Grace Dana (2 runs scored) each had a single. Also scoring runs were Grace Dollman (4), Maria Franklin (1), Matayah Reed (1), and Emma Mousaw (1).
Pitching duties were split between Dana and Zebedee. Dana pitched five innings throwing ten strikeouts. Zebedee pitched two innings with two strikeouts.
The young Golden Bears traveled to Massena on Saturday May 11th and defeated the Raiders by a score of 23- 8.
The Golden Bears were led offensively by Arieana St. Andrews who hit a 3 run homerun and scored 4 runs. Lilly Todd (1 run) and Paige Godwin (1 run) added singles. Scoring was spread out across the team. Bella Doughty, Zoey Zebedee, and Grace Dollman each had three runs. Harper Elvy and Taylor Stone both had two runs. Grace Dana, Matayah Reed, Kaydence Ashley and Avery Thacker each added a run.
The Golden Bears had a good game defensively only allowing two runs until the bottom of the 6th inning when Massena was able to add three runs and another four in the bottom of the 7th. Pitching duties were split between Dana and Todd. Dana threw three innings striking out six. Todd threw four innings striking out six. One of the highlights of the game defensively were getting a couple of key outs from runners trying to steal home.
