New Events Featured at Modified Indoor Track Meet

On Saturday, January 20, Canton’s modified track and field team competed at the SLU fieldhouse. This meet included a few events for the first time this season, which the athletes were excited about. 

Kicking off the meet was the boys 1000 meter run. In this race, Cedric Harper placed third with a time of 3:34. 

In the girls 1000 meters, Dilek Eissenstat placed second with a time of 3:51. Addison Ragan ran a 4:17, placing fourth. Ashlan Foster placed eighth, with a time of 4:23.

The boys team placed fourth in the 4×200 relay with a total time of 2:19.

In the girls 4×200 relay, two Canton teams competed. One placed fourth with a time of 2:15. The other placed 11th with a time of 2:37.

John Mitchell placed sixth in the boys 60 meter dash with a time of 9.20 seconds. Malachi Conant and Finn O’Brien tied for 11th with times of 9.80 seconds.

In fifth place in the girls 60 meters was Sola Oakley with a time of 9.20 seconds. Elizabeth Metcalf placed seventh with a time of 9.40 seconds. Mary Abuhassen placed 17th with a time of 10.10 seconds. 

In the boys 600, Zachary Lyndaker placed fifth with a time of 2:00. Cedric Harper placed seventh with a time of 2:19.

In the girls 600, Dilek Eissenstat placed second with a time of 2:16.

In first place in the boys 300 was Dayshwn James with a time of 43.20 seconds. Parker Smith placed eighth with a time of 55.10 seconds. Cedric Harper followed closely behind with a time of 55.50 seconds, placing ninth. In 13th place was Elijah Williams, running a 1:02.

In the girls 300 meters placing 20th was JeesieJean Coffin, running the race in 59 seconds. Isis Casserly placed 33rd with a time of 1:07.

One of the new events introduced was the mixed boys and girls relay. One Canton team placed fourth with a time of 5:23 and the other placed fifth with a time of 5:38.

In the boys high jump, Dayshawn James placed third, clearing a height of 4 ft 6 in. Finn O’Brien placed seventh, jumping 4 ft. In eighth place was Malachi Conant, with a height of 3 ft 10 in. John Mitchell placed 11th with a height of 3 ft 8 in. 

In the girls shot put, Isis Casserly placed 12th, throwing a distance of 15 ft 8 in. Gabby Pecola came 13th, with a distance of 14 ft 7 in.

In the boys shot put, Elijah Williams placed ninth with a distance of 14 ft 7 in.

Mary Abuhassen placed second in the girls long jump, jumping 11 ft 8 in. Gabby Pecola placed eighth, with a total distance of 8 ft 5 in. Dilek Eissenstat placed 21st with a distance of 7 ft 1 in.

Zachary Lyndaker placed first in triple jump with a distance of 23 ft.

In second place for the girls triple jump was Elizabeth Metcalf, with a distance of 22 ft 9 in.

The girls placed fourth overall, while the boys placed third. The athletes are looking forward to finishing off their season at SLU on February 3.
