Thursday, May 23 at Ike Noble Fields: Canton 11, Gouverneur 10

The Bears made a miraculous comeback in the last inning on Tuesday night to win a league game against Gouverneur.  Going into the final inning the Bears were down by 6 but stayed faithful and were able to wake up the bats just in time to pull off the win.  Shaylee Olmstead started the hitting parade and the bears never looked back until the winning run crossed the plate.

“The team showed perseverance and kept battling despite being down the entire game.  I am very proud of how they supported each other and dug deep to get this win.   A simply amazing display of toughness” Coach Wentworth proudly said of her team.

Elle White, Aida Baker, Shaylee Olmstead Salma Moumen, and Marilisa Salvi-Miguel all had two hits, with many coming in the crucial, final inning.  White hit a long-double, sending 3 home and tying up the game. Jenna Larrabee had three hits and came through with the game winning hit in the 7th inning.  The Bears batted around the order in the 7th inning scoring seven runs to end the game in victory.

Marilisa Salvi-Miguel battled through four innings with four strike outs.  Elle White picked up the win, coming into the game in the fifth inning. She quickly went to work striking out seven batters, helping solidify the win for the Bears.

The Lady Bears will have some time off until next week when they will finish up their season hosting O.F.A. then traveling to Massena.
