Canton Girls JV Softball traveled to Malone to play the Franklin Academy Huskies on Monday looking to beat the only team that has defeated them this year but fell short.
Four Golden Bear hitters had 2 hits apiece. Salma Moumen, Jenna Larrabee and Shaylee Olmstead each had doubles. Elle White added to the offense with 2 singles. Run production came from White, Larrabee and Aida Baker with 2 runs each. Olmstead and Marilisa Salvi-Miguel each added one.
Marilisa Salvi-Miguel and Elle White shared pitching duties, working the plate well, keeping the Malone hitters off balance, striking out a combined 11.
“The Bears lost a hard-fought match to the Huskies in the final inning of the game Monday night in Malone. The game had several lead changes and the Bears kept fighting for every run against a tough Malone defense” Coach Wentworth said.
The bears go back to work on Tuesday against Gouverneur at home. Game time set for 3:30.
