The Canton Golden Bears Varsity Softball team hosted the Potsdam Sandstoners on Friday afternoon in their last regular season game.  The Bears threw three different pitchers that combined for a twelve strikeout no hitter.  Tessa Alguire, Ava Hoy and Hadley Alguire shared the pitching duties for the win. The win secured the number 1 seed for the Bears as they now go into the postseason playoffs. It also capped off an undefeated regular season in the Central Division.

The Bears also warmed up the bats on Friday, belting four homeruns in the game.  Hadley Alguire led the way with two and Sydnee Francis and Olivia Sero each had one.  Alguire, Francis and Maya Thomas recorded three hits in the game.

“Our kids were motivated to end the regular season on a strong note and they did.  Now it is time to move on to the playoffs and see what we can do there, stated Coach Wentworth.”

The Bears open tonight against Salmon River at Ike Noble Fields at 5:00 pm.
