Saturday in Canton at Ike Noble Fields: Canton 10, St. Lawrence Central 7
The bears held off a late-game surge by the Larries and walked away with their 3rd win of the season against SLC.  The bears scored in every inning except one and again used aggressive base running to produce runs. “Overall, it was a solid performance by the entire team using a combination of small ball and base hits to push runners around the bases and get the runs needed to win” Coach Wentworth said.

Shaylee Olmstead and Elle White led the offense going three for four, each hitting long doubles.  Aida Baker, Salma Moumen and White scored 2 runs each, using their speed to cruise around the bases.

Pitchers Marilisa Salvi-Miguel and Elle White kept the St. Lawrence Central bats quiet until the fourth inning.  Salvi-Miguel pitched four innings striking out 3.  White came in to close the game pitching 3 innings and striking out six.  Salma Moumen made several “gold glove” plays at third base to help secure the win.  Catching duties were solidly handled by freshman, Jenna Larrabee.

The Bears will play again on Monday in Malone where they will take on the only team to defeat them this year, the Huskies.
