
On Thursday afternoon, May 11, at Ike Noble Fields in Canton: Canton 28, Madrid-Waddington 8
The Canton Girls JV Softball team hosted the Madrid-Waddington Yellow Jackets on Thursday afternoon and outscored them 28-8 in five innings. Elle White started the game on the mound, throwing 3 scoreless innings striking out 8 of 9 batters, and not allowing a hit. Marilisa Salvi-Miguel got the save pitching 2 scoreless innings with one strikeout.

A game-turning double play was made in the 4th inning beginning with a catch from Aida Baker at shortstop to second baseman, Shaylee Olmstead then finally over to Elle White at first.
Catcher, Jenna Larrabee brought the momentum for the team after making a Sports Center highlight diving catch to end the 5th inning.

Salma Moumen had the hot bat going five for six. Olivia Sommerstein went two for two with 3 runs scored. Adding to the power at the plate was Lainey Thornton going two for three with a double. Mia Wilson and Shaylee Olmstead’s triples added to the tally. The young bears also took advantage of multiple stolen bases and finished the game in the 5th inning after scoring 15 runs.

The JV squad will take on the Blue Devils in Ogdensburg on Wednesday, May 17th. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30.
