The Canton Varsity Softball team hosted the Gouverneur Wildcats on Wednesday afternoon at Ike Noble Field. The Bears came away with an 11-2 victory.
Hadley Alguire and Ava Hoy shared the pitching duties and combined for a four hitter. Alguire struck out seven in six innings of work earning the win. Hoy came in to shut the door in the seventh and struck out two.
Canton was led on the offensive side by Hadley Alguire, Maya Thomas and Emma Logan who all had two hits each.
“Today was a fun game against a talented Gouverneur team. We just got the breaks when we needed them today. Hadley and Ava were tough in the circle and our defense seems to be gaining more and more confidence every game.”
The Bears will be back home on Friday when the Potsdam Sandstoners come to town. The game is scheduled for a 4:30 first pitch.
