In Canton on Friday afternoon, April 5: Canton 7, SLC 5
Canton hosted the St. Lawrence Central Larries at Ike Noble Field on Friday night and if you were in attendance you did not walk away disappointed. The Bears had to battle back to score four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take their first lead of the game and earn a 7-5 victory.

Sydnee Francis was the offensive star of the game after hitting a bases loaded triple in the bottom of the sixth to put the Bears ahead. Tessa Alguire then drove her in with an RBI double for the insurance run. Ava Hoy and Courtney Peters each stroked three hits in the game in the winning cause.
Ava Hoy pitched the complete game victory, striking out eleven.

“Wow, what a game! We just kept getting runners on base but we just could not push them across until Syd had the bases loaded triple in the sixth inning,” said Coach Mike Wentworth. “SLC is a very good team and they kept making big play after big play but somehow we finally pulled it out. That was fun softball! We pitched and played very good defense today and that kept us in the game. Emma Logan’s diving catch in the third inning really gave us an energy boost. I think that was a big turning point. She covers a lot of ground out there.”
