On Monday afternoon, May 8 in Malone: Canton 15, Franklin Academy 1
Canton Girls Varsity Softball traveled to Malone to play the Franklin Academy Huskies on Monday and came home with a 15-1 victory.
Hadley Alguire started in the circle, throwing four scoreless innings and only giving up one hit. Ava Hoy picked up the save pitching three innings, striking out six.
Offensively, Hoy and Alguire did their part as well. Hoy was a homerun shy of the cycle, driving in four runs. Alguire drove in two while collecting two hits and a double. Emma Logan also smacked two hits in the win.
“We played very good defense today,” said Coach Mike Wentworth. “Tessa Alguire and Sydnee Francis both made beautiful catches going away that stopped the Huskies from getting started. I also like the way we swung the bat today. Now it time to start to get ready for the Wildcats on Wednesday.”
