Girls Varsity Lacrosse Dominates in Three-Game Week

Canton 14, Malone 2

The Girls Varsity Lacrosse team started off their week strong with a statement win against the Malone Huskies, with this contest ending with a final score of 14-2 in favor of the Golden Bears.

Canton’s ball movement and lack of selfishness was a huge factor for them in this game, with 11 of their players notching one or more goal. Grace Davis had another solid game in net for the Bears, as she only let in two goals with five shots on net.

Vivian Coburn continues to dominate for the Bears, with an impressive three goals scored in this game along with two assists and eight draws controlled. And finally Olivia Francey had another impressive game for the Bears, with a goal, two assists and six draws controlled on the night.

Canton 6, Massena 5

The Bears snuck out a close one on Thursday night, April 27, against the Massena Red Raiders. This was a big league win for the Bears, as Massena is only a couple games behind them in the standings. The final score of this contest was 6-5 in favor of the Bears.

Canton did not have the most productive night in terms of offense but they got the job done on the field. Grace Davis was in net on Thursday night for the Bears and held her own, letting up five goals on eight shots, with a majority of the shots coming in the second half for the Raiders.

Olivia Francey continued her hot streak as she netted another two goals this game for the Bears. Winnie Downs also chipped in an assist and three draws controlled to propel the Bears to a win. But the real hero for Canton on that night was Megan Martin, scoring the game winning goal to seal the deal and propel the Bears to 6-1 on the season.

Canton 16, OFA 5

The Golden Bears continued their domination on Saturday afternoon in Ogdensburg against the Blue Devils. With the final score of this contest being 15-6 Canton, in a rain-filled event.

Ally Kiah had a great game for the Bears, netting two goals of her own and helping the Bears put away the Devils. Multiple players for the Bears notched two or more goals in this game, including Vivian Coburn, Olivia Francey and Megan Martin. Madie Brandy also dished out an assist in the contest. Canton really dominated this game from all aspects and overall that’s what led to the victory on Saturday for the Bears.
