With Senior David Zuhlsdorf on the mound, the Bears were confident that they could get a bounceback win against the Wildcats on Tuesday, April 25. After Zuhlsdorf struck out the side in the top of the first, Zuhlsdorf and fellow seniors Nate Romano and Luke Wentworth each added an RBI to give the Bears a 3-0 lead. After the Wildcats added an unearned run in the fourth, the Bears added another three-run inning capped off by Sophomore Charlie Todd’s two-run double. The only blemish to Zuhlsdorf’s excellent game in which he recorded a career high in strikeouts was Wildcat Junior Ashton Bowman’s towering homer to left field. Todd came in to finish the game, as the Bears won 6-2.

Zuhlsdorf finished with 17 strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.

Canton 6 – Potsdam 11

The Bears suffered a tough loss at home on Thursday against the Sandstoners. Todd was given the nod for the Bears, and pitched a solid three innings, giving up three runs (two earned) and had four strikeouts. When Coach Caufield handed the ball to Freshman Zadok Roiger in the fourth, the game was tied 3-3. Roiger had himself an RBI single in the third, and Romano tallied three RBIs off of two singles in the second and the fourth. After gaining the lead in the fourth, untimely errors by the Bears gave Potsdam the lead, 5-4. When Senior Erich Zuhlsdorf came onto pitch in relief of Roiger, the Bears defense fell apart. He gave up six runs in 1 1/3 innings, but most of the runs were direct results of the multiple errors committed by Canton. The Bears only tacked on one run in the sixth, and went down 1-2-3 in the seventh to lose to the Sandstoners, 11-6.

E. Zuhlsdorf finished with three runs scored, and Romano, Todd and Wentworth finished 2-3 each.
