Canton 23, Potsdam 3
The Canton Varsity Softball Team took a short road trip down Route 11 to Potsdam to face the Sandstoners on Thursday afternoon, April 27 and came away with a 23-3 victory.

Freshman Tessa Alguire was in the circle for her first career start at the Varsity level and she took advantage of the opportunity. Alguire threw a complete game No Hitter, striking out seven.
“Tessa is an outstanding young pitcher with a ton of potential. She threw very well today, keeping the ball around the plate and using the change up to keep hitters off balance,” said Coach Mike Wentworth.

Alguire also did her best at the plate going 3 for 4 with four RBI’s. Sydnee Francis continued her hot bat going 3 for 3 with a double and a triple. Francis also swiped eight bases in the game. Ava Hoy chipped in three hits with an RBI triple.
“It was great to play a game with the sun out and no mittens today,” Wentworth said. “I am hoping the warm weather will start to heat up our bats as well. Today was a good start.”
