In Gouverneur on Tuesday afternoon, April 25, Canton 13, Gouverneur 4
Canton’s JV Girls Softball team came off the bus with hot bats, scoring four runs in the first inning as they beat Gouverneur on Wednesday in a league game 13-4. Leading the way offensively was Salma Moumen, going 4 for 5, followed by Jenna Larrabee going 3 for 5. Shaylee Olmstead also had two doubles.
Defensively starting pitcher Marilisa Salvi-Miguel held the wildcats to four hits with eight strikeouts. Elle White came in to close out the game in the fifth inning, striking out five.
“The team kept their energy throughout the game and stayed aggressive on the bases. They are a young squad playing new positions so we are just looking for improvement everyday,” said Coach Carla Wentworth.
