Girls Varsity Hockey falls short in final four run

Adirondack Central 4, Canton 1

The Girl’s Varsity Hockey team faced off against a very strong Adirondack Central team in the state Final Four games. The final score of this contest ended up 4-1, not in favor of the Bears. Although Canton’s season did not end in the way they had hoped they made a great run to get where they did.

The Bears came out a bit cold in this game, getting down 2-0 quickly in the first period. But then Canton cashed in on a five-on-three opportunity and made the game score 2-1. The goal for the Bears was scored by Grace Southwick and assisted by Emily Estabrooks. The celebration for the Bears was cut short though, as Adirondack United fired back with another goal, which made the game 3-1 as the first period ended. The next two periods were a defensive battle with neither team scoring, and with three minutes left in the game, the Bears pulled their goaltender to get an extra skater on the ice and stir some things up and give the Bears a spark. Unfortunately for Canton their prayers were not met as Adirondack United buried an empty netter which ended up being the final straw for the Bears as they watched their season come to an end.
