After securing the number one seed in the Class C girls playoffs, Canton faced off against the number four seed Norwood-Norfolk. Norwood-Norfolk had to beat the five seed Brushton-Moria to move on to the next round on Wednesday where they won 41-27.

Sophomore guard Calie Klassen splashes down a long field goal in Canton’s dominant win over Norwood-Norfolk to propel them to the Section X Class C Championship.

With the Class C Championship match in mind the Bears came out strong, Ava Hoy scored 15 of Canton’s 22 points in the first quarter and the Bears used their quick and effective defense to hold Norwood-Norfolk to zero points. Canton’s lead only grew in the second quarter as they held flyers to just three points in the first half. The Bears had six different players contribute points in the first half where they walked into the locker room up 30-3.

The second half told a similar story as the Bears continued to dominate. The flyers found more success in the second half but came up short with the final score being 55-14. Canton shot 12/16 from the free throw line on the night and had nine different players score throughout the game.

Box Score: Hoy 21, Coburn 8, Klassen 7, Olivia White 6, Tessa Alguire 3, Francey 3, Gabriel 3, Downs 2, and Elle White 2.
