Boys Varsity Basketball take down Shamrocks, secure first round bye

Canton 60, Salmon River 50

The Varsity Boys Basketball team capped off their regular season with a win on Tuesday night in Salmon River. The final score of the contest was 60-50 in favor of the Golden Bears and propelled their overall season record to 14-6.

Canton got out to a hot start on Tuesday night, getting up 8-0 and making it look like this game might be over quick. But with back-to-back threes by the Shamrocks starting point guard, the Bears only found themselves up two.

After a little back and forth Canton found themselves up by more than 15 points at halftime. Then in the third quarter Canton lit the scoreboard up, with multiple threes, fast break layups and drives to the basket. But in the fourth and final quarter the Bears were up about 30 points with five minutes left, but Salmon managed to scrap back within 10 points but in the end their efforts were not enough. As the Bears took home the win and capped off a great but roller coaster regular season.
