In Canton on Monday night; Canton 43, Massena 36
The Lady Bears squared off against the Red Raiders in a crucial league game last night at home. Ava Hoy banked 8 points in the first quarter helping the young squad gain an early lead. The Bears kept their momentum coming out of the gate in the second half. The defense was strong and they held the Red Raiders to only 7 points in the 3rd quarter
The Raiders found the hoop in the 4th quarter, adding 19 points and narrowing the Bears lead to just 4 points with less than 2 minutes to go. Strong, last-minute defense, 10 more points for Hoy and 5 baskets for freshman, Olivia White in the second half helped the Bears solidify the win. “Massena is a well-coached team that plays hard on every possession. Our defense stepped up and we ran the floor well in transition.” Coach Disalvo said.
The Lady Bears will be back on the hardwood Thursday for the Route 11 rivalry where they will take on the Sandstoners in Potsdam at 7:15.
