In Canton on Saturday afternoon: Canton 31, Edwards-Knox 30
The Canton JV girls Basketball team hosted the Edwards Knox Cougars in a Saturday matinee at Jerry Hourihan Gymnasium. The Cubs started out the game slow and trailed for three and a half quarters. Canton finally took the lead in the fourth and went on to win by one, 31-30.
Tessa Alguire led all scorers with 9 points. Elle White and Haley Burnett each tossed in 6 points in the winning cause.
“We started out sluggish as a team with a lot of turnovers and had to play catch up for most of the game but the girls never gave up. When we switched defenses in the third quarter we started to get some momentum and finally took the lead. Have to give this group credit, they always compete until the final buzzer”, stated Coach Wentworth.
The Bears will be back at home on Monday to tip it up with the Massena Red Raiders. Game time is scheduled for 5:30pm.
