On Jan. 12 the junior varsity Golden Bears defeated the Gouvernuer Wildcats for the third time this year by a score of 41-26. The Golden Bears played their best defensive game all season, holding the Wildcats to just four points in the first half. Sophomore captain Jackson Ames blocked five shots in the first quarter alone and in the first half, sophomore guards Charlie Todd and Paul Redfern tallied five steals together.

Despite a 19-man roster, 12 Bears players scored. Aidan Richardson led the Bears with a season high 10 points, followed by Charlie Todd who had nine. James Trombley stepped onto the court for the first time this year for the Bears and had a solid drive through the lane where he was fouled and knocked down both free throws.

Thursday was sophomore Shoham Zuker’s last time on the court for Canton as he will be studying abroad for the rest of the school year in Isreal.

“He was a great teammate and always pushed others to their max. No matter what day it was he always brought the intensity even at early morning practices,” said team captain Jackson Ames. “Shoham’s energy and intensity always brought the best out of his teammates and he will be missed on the team.”
