Ogdensburg 3, Canton 0
The Boys Varsity Hockey team lost a home contest to the Ogdensburg Blue Devils on Jan. 11 at the Pavilion. The final score of the matchup was 3-0 in favor of a solid Blue Devils squad.
Sophomore goaltender Daniel Creurer stood strong in net for the Bears although he was peppered with shots all night. Creurer allowed just three goals in the back of the net and 27 saves notched on the stat sheet.
Although it may not have shown on the scoreboard the Bears were in this game the entire night with multiple opportunities to cash in that just didn’t go their way unfortunately. This young Canton team has been working hard all season and although the results they are looking for aren’t being produced right now, this team still has faith come playoff time that they can make some noise.
BFA 6, Canton 1
The Golden Bears took one to the chin on Saturday against Bellows Free Academy as they traveled to St. Albans to lose their second and final game of the week.
The Bears starting goaltender Landon Denner let up two goals on 11 shots in the first period and Daniel Creurer let up four goals on 25 shots after both netminders split the game. The Bears first and only goal came about halfway in the second period, scored by Sophomore Josh Arraysian and assisted by Junior Drew Blevins. This was Ayrassian’s first career varsity goal, and comes as a reward for a consistently high level of effort and energy from the young winger.
Canton was charged with two penalties the whole game, with both of them being tripping and occurring in the third period. Canton looks to regroup as they have a very important league game against the Potsdam Sandstoners on Friday night.
