Wrestling Falls Short in Malone

The Bears lost a divisional matchup last week to Malone and are now one match behind first-place Gouverneur.

Malone won on two forfeits at 102 and 118 pounds, but Noah Curry got the Bears on the board with a pin over Joshua Stevens at 110 pounds.

The 126-pound match between Ezra Williams and Tanner King was a tough battle which ended with Malone’s Tanner King coming out on top in a 9-8 decision.

Connor Clifford then rebounded for Canton with a pin over Spencer Rabideau at 132 pounds followed by a forfeit to Nick Locy at 138 pounds.

The contest was tight and with a Malone pin and Canton winning on a forfeit, the match remained close. However, Malone then went on a run winning the 160-pound match 8-5 in decision followed by three matches by pin at 172, 189, and 215.

The Bears ended the match with a forfeit resulting in a 48-24 victory for Malone. It was only the second loss on the season for the Bears and they dropped to fourth place in the Section X standings.
