Canton’s boys varsity basketball team lost a heartbreaking game on Monday night in Gouverneur, with a final score of 56-53 in favor of the Wildcats after starting point guard Ryan Jones missed a game tying three-pointer at the buzzer.
Canton struggled offensively throughout the game. Missing free throws left and right as well as getting solid opportunities to score but not being able to capitalize was the headline of the game for the Bears. Luke Wentworth led the charge for the Bears in the points column, scoring 15 total. James Bailey was really strong on the glass, grabbing both offensive and defensive rebounds to help the Bears stay in the game. Starting point guard for the Wildcats Raine Rumble gave the Bears a tough time all night, scoring 21 points on the night and nine in the fourth quarter which proved to be crucial for the Wildcats win. The game was tight all night, with neither team gaining a lead of more than five points the entire game.
