Canton 3, Madrid-Waddington 1
Canton swept the regular season series against the Yellowjackets on Oct. 18 in Madrid-Waddington. The Bears won three sets to one in the Tuesday night contest, adding to their impressive resume.
The Bears headed into enemy territory eyeing a victory. In the first set they came to play, winning 25-18 over the Yellowjackets and setting the tone for the game. In the second set Madrid-Waddington came back determined, winning the second set 25-22 and putting the game at one set to one set. Canton then won the next two sets to secure the victory for the Bears, winning the third set 25-20 and the fourth and final set 25-10. In the final set Canton really showed their stamina and why they are a top contender for the Section X title this year.
Notable Stats for the game are as follows, Katie Metcalf with 18 points, six kills, five aces and four digs. Ava Hoy with 20 kills, 13 points and nice aces. Canton also had three players with 10 or more points in the contest, really tallying up the stat sheet.
Canton 3, Clifton-Fine 0
On Oct. 20 the Bears had a stellar game, winning three sets to zero overall, but also holding the Eagles to 15 points or less in every set. Behind multiple efforts from individuals and a good team effort as a whole the team was able to secure the win.
The Bears were dominant in every aspect of the game on Thursday, winning all three sets by 10 or more. In the first set for the Bears they won 25-9 behind a very strong effort from Junior Laurel Whittier, serving 12 straight points in the first set to secure the first set victory. Not much changed the second or third set. Canton won the second set 25-8 and won the third set 25-14 to cap off a dominant win on senior night for the Bears.
Notable stats for the Bears on Thursday night are as follows, Laurel Whittier with 17 points, 12 assists and 4 digs. Ava Hoy with 11 kills, 8 points and 4 aces. Grace Davis with 9 points and 3 aces. And finally Katie Metcalf with 8 points, 3 aces and 3 digs.
