Canton 1, Madrid-Waddington 2

The Bears lost a competitive match to the Yellowjackets on a Oct. 18 at the hive. In a hard fought battle Canton came up just short of the victory. They fell to 6-5 on the season after the loss.

The Bears lost two sets to one overall but they were anything but blowouts. In the first set the Bears lost 25-20 and Coach Rob Brown described the game against Madrid-Waddington as “very competitive,” adding remarks such as “the sets were very close” and “they could have gone either way.”

In the second set it came down to the wire with the Yellowjackets, Canton eventually losing 26-24 in a very close and very competitive set. In the third and final set the Bears ended up winning 25-17 in the final set. And although Canton fell up short they have some solid points to build off as the week progresses.

Canton 2, Clifton-Fine 1

The Bears finished off the week with a solid come from behind win against Clifton-Fine. Canton battled back after a tough first set to overcome the Eagles in a captivating match.

The Bears came out of the gates cold, losing the first match to the Eagles 25-15. But Head Coach Rob Brown must have given a great speech in between sets, as Canton fired out of a cannon, winning the second set 25-23 in a back and forth battle. Finally in the third, the Eagles put up a good fight but the Bears determination and grit propelled them to a win. The Bears won the third set 25-18 and snatched the game from the Eagles to go 1-1 on the week. Notching another win puts them at 7-5 on the season. A solid bounce-back game for the Bears as they head into the next week of play.
