Chateaugay 3, Canton 2

The Bears battled the Bulldogs in a tough matchup on Oct. 6 in Chateaugay. Canton eventually lost the contest three sets to two in a hard fought battle.

Canton got off the bus asleep as the Bulldogs dominated Canton 25-11 in the first set of the evening. And although it looked to be that Canton was in trouble they battled back in the following two sets, winning both. Set two they overpowered Chateaugay 25-17 and in the third they won 25-20. In the fourth set it was a back and forth the whole time and it ended up going into extra time, with Chateaugay winning the set to make it an even 2-2 in the matchup. The fifth and final set is played to 15 instead of 25, and in the final set Chateaugay just overpowered Canton to push their way to victory and drop the Bears record to 8-2.

Notable stats for the Bears in the loss to Chateaugay are as follows: Laurel Whittier 32 assists, nice service points and three digs. Ava Hoy with 25 kills, 14 service points and five aces and finally Katie Metcalf with 16 digs, 14 service points, seven kills and three aces.

Although the Bears fall to 8-2 on the season they had a solid performance that they can build off of as they head into next week.
