On the turf in Ogdensburg on Oct. 4, Canton 2,  OFA 1

On Tuesday night the Canton boys JV Soccer team pushed their record to 11-0 on the season by outlasting the OFA Blue Devils in a Central league match up under the lights in Ogdensburg.

Sophomore Daniel Creurer elevates for a header against OFA on Oct. 4.

The Bears scored first at the 12:23 mark in the first half when Gavin Schryver connected on a cross from Josh McLear. Canton scored another at 10:03 mark in the second half when Grady Nee and Tomi Husinic assisted Gavin Schryver on his second goal of the night, icing the 2-1 Bears win.

“It is always tough to beat a team three times and OFA battled us in every game to the final horn. We were seriously tested today and I hope that game makes us better down the stretch,” said Coach Mike Wentworth.

In Potsdam on Oct. 6, Canton 8, Potsdam 1

On Thursday the Boys JV Soccer team traveled down route 11 with their 11-0 record to face rival Potsdam Sandstoners.

The Stoners struck first, scoring a goal in the first 30 seconds of the game. With this goal the young Bears trailed in a game for the first time all season. The situation seemed to wake up the Bears. Their determination to strike back led to eight unanswered goals and a convincing victory with a final score of 8-0.

Scoring for the Bears were Lucas Howie (2), Caleb Hartman, Josh McLear, Carter Lesperance, Will Andes and Oz Zuker.

Varsity Coach Matt Caufield coached the team in Coach Wentworth’s absence.

“The boys played well today. I really like the way they pass the ball and keep the ball on the ground,” Caufield said. “The Canton Soccer program has a very bright future.”
