Varsity Swimming dominates in First Meet

The varsity girls swim team matched up against Potsdam at Clarkson University Sept. 9. They made the bus ride home victorious, winning against the Sandstoners 113-56. This win started their season off 1-0, and extending their record-shattering win streak to 120 matches.

The Bears got out to a hot start against the Sandstoners and never looked back. The girls set the tone in the first race of the day, the 200 Medley Relay, winning both first and second place. First place group includes Tessa Alguire, Madison Mitchell, Maya Thomas and Kaitlyn Redfern. The Bears never trailed at any point in the meet, and didn’t lost a single individual race in points while taking care of business against Potsdam.

The future looks very bright for the Bears. Junior swimmer Thomas had a great showing in meet number one, sitting on the podium in all four of her events and grabbing first in three of the four events she swam in. She is a large piece of the puzzle for this young Bears team. As well as Alexis Stuntz who is a up and coming sophomore for the bears, finishing first in all four of her events. And the bears have many more key swimmers as well.

The girls varsity swim team looks to keep this streak alive as they take on Massena, home at six o’clock on Tuesday night.
