Baseball Headed to Finals

In Canton on Tuesday afternoon on Ike Noble Fields, Canton 2, Gouverneur 1

The Canton Central Boys Baseball team continued it’s quest for a title on Tuesday night in Canton as they defeated the Gouverneur Wildcats at Ike Noble Field by a score of 2-1. The Bears started the game where they left off in Gouverneur earlier this season by scoring twice in the opening inning. That would be the only scoring produced by the Bears as both teams produced some excellent pitching and defense the remainder of the way. Daven LaFaver’s single for an RBI, followed by a steal of second base then scored what became the game-winning run in a 2-1 win the Section X Class B semifinal.

The Bears next game is slated for tomorrow (Thursday afternoon) at St. Lawrence University. First pitch at 5:00 pm.

Thursday, June 2^nd at SLU:  Regional Semi-Finals – Section X Class B Champion hosts the Section VII Class B Champion

Saturday, June 4^th at SLU:  Region Championship – Winner from June 2^nd hosts Section II Class B Champion

Friday and Saturday, June 10^th and 11^th:  NY State Baseball Championship.

Class B Semi-Finals:  2:00 and 5:00 games at Union-Endicott HS

Class B Championship:  10:00am at Binghamton University
