On Wednesday afternoon at SUNY Potsdam, Canton 6, Gouverneur 1
The Golden Bears took on the Gouverneur Wildcats on Wednesday afternoon at SUNY Potsdam in the Class “B” Championship. Canton came away with a 6-1 victory in a very well played Softball game.

Ava Hoy started in the circle pitched all seven innings, striking out 14 batters and only allowed one hit. “Ava pitched very well today. She again did a great job getting ahead in the count which puts all the pressure on the hitters. The Cats are a very good hitting team and Ava seemed to keep them off the bases for most of the game” from Coach Wentworth
Offensively, Canton smacked 14 hits in the game. 8th grader Tessa Alguire and senior Cate DeCoteau led the Bears going 3-4 with 2 doubles each. Sydnee Francis, Hoy, Katie Metcalf and Olivia Sero all had two hits in the game.

Canton will now be off until June 4th because they have a bye in the first round of the NYS playoffs.
