For the second time this season, three Canton Modified Baseball pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter, this time in a 14-0 win at Ogdensburg Free Academy on Wednesday.
Charlie Todd went the first four innings allowing only one base runner on a walk, but that player was thrown out trying to steal by catcher JJ Ahlfeld. Todd had eight strikeouts. Zadok Roiger relieved him and gave up a walk and a hit batter in two innings, notching three strikeouts. Gavin Schryver finished the game with a 1-2-3 seventh, striking out two.
The Bears’ defense played errorless ball behind their pitchers.
Canton hitters managed only nine hits, but drew 19 walks and one hit by pitch. Ahlfeld was 3-for-4 with a run scored, Schryver was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Roiger, Todd, John Gidney and Matt Bradish-Hayes had the other Canton hits. Bradish-Hayes and Paul Redfern each scored two runs.
The Bears (8-0) host Lisbon at 10 a.m. Saturday.
