In Ogdensburg on Wednesday Afternoon, Canton 14,  OFA 4

The Golden Bears Varsity Softball team made the trip to the Maple City to face the OFA Blue Devils in a central league match up.  Canton came away with a 14-4 win behind Ava Hoys 13 strikeout one hitter.

Courtney Peters finished the game in the circle striking out two.  Sydnee Francis paced the Bears with the bat collecting three hits in the game.  Cate DeCoteau, Katie Metcalf and 8th grader Tessa Alguire each stroked two hits in the game.  Alguire moved up today to fill in for her older sister Hadley who injured her thumb over the weekend.  “Ava and Courtney did a nice job in the circle today.  As a staff though we can make our life a lot easier if we get ahead in the count.  Hadley is out so they will get the bulk of the innings in the circle now.  Sydnee Francis has started to swing the bat very well and when she gets on base the DeCoteau sisters usually drive her in,”  stated Coach Mike Wentworth.

The Bears have two more games this week.  They play Massena at home on Thursday and will travel to Malone on Friday to wrap up the regular season.
