In Fort Covington on Thursday afternoon, Canton 23 Salmon River 5 (5 Innings)
The Golden Bears pitching staff combined for a two hitter while outscoring Salmon River by the score of 23-5. Hadley Alguire, Ava Hoy and Courtney Peters shared the pitching duties on Thursday night striking out ten combined batters.
Alguire led the offense going 3-3 with a double and driving in three runs. Katie Metcalf and Sydnee Francis also swung a hot bat picking up two hits apiece. Olivia Sero, Ava Hoy and Cate DeCoteau each stroked RBI doubles. “We have not had a game in 14 days because of spring break so I didn’t know what to expect. Courtney Peters threw very well today and we swung the bats pretty good when we needed to.” stated coach Mike Wentworth.
The Bears are back at home on Friday as they will face class “D” powerhouse Hammond in a single game. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00pm
